Vera's Iron and Vine, my retail store, opened in 2018, and in 2020, I began renovating a former fiddlehead cannery in Wilton, Maine, transforming it into my creative space, now called Belle Creative arts. Here, I craft and assemble mixed media, found object art, refined artisan jewelry, pottery, and one-of-a-kind pieces. You’ll often find me in my overalls, happily chatting with anyone who comes to visit!

About the event
Come explore the wonderful world of clay at the table!
We'll discuss coil, slab method and hollow forms. Plus carving and stamping. We'll discuss underglaze ideas, glazing and stains.
This class is guaranteed to open up your creative channels and you will leave with more knowledge as well as some wonderful pottery.
Handbuilding is a ceramics technique that allows you to create forms with clay and your hands, without using a throwing wheel. Before the wheel was invented, handbuilding was the only way to create functional and artistic ceramic forms. The oldest known ceramic artifact was handbuilt and is dated as early as 28,000 BCE. All you need to get started is clay, your hands, and a few simple tools.
Beginner and experienced makers welcome. If you want to try something a little different, we hope you will join us for this class!
This class welcomes kids 10 and up. I have classes geared towards younger ones and parent child coming up.
Clay NOT included in cost. You will need to purchase a $30 bag of clay for class. Check or cash only.
