The Koru (Fiddlehead) is one of the most important symbols of Maori traditions.
It symbolizes life, strength, growth, and peace. Its shape also conveys the idea of perpetual movement forward.
Many processes are involved with this piece. Drawing the original design, etching, printing on copper, and finally
hand stitcing the border with sterling silver to frame the final design before finishing with African beads.

Vera's Iron and Vine, my retail store, opened in 2018, and in 2020, I began renovating a former fiddlehead cannery in Wilton, Maine, transforming it into my creative space, now called Belle Creative arts. Here, I craft and assemble mixed media, found object art, refined artisan jewelry, pottery, and one-of-a-kind pieces. You’ll often find me in my overalls, happily chatting with anyone who comes to visit!
